Tell Me MoreFollowing his 2022 Olivier Award for sound design, Autograph’s Nick Lidster won another prestigious accolade last night when he was revealed as one of the winners (among a three-way tie) of the 2024 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Sound Design of a Musical – for Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.
Directed by Rebecca Frecknall, this production won seven Olivier Awards in 2022 for its debut in London (watch HERE). At the Drama Desk Awards in NYC last night, in the Outstanding Sound Design of a Musical category, a TIE was announced – between Nick Lidster for Autograph (Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club), Cody Spencer (The Outsiders) and Walter Trarbach (Water for Elephants).
The other nominees in this closely contested field were Jason Crystal (Suffs), and Kai Harada & Joshua Millican (Dead Outlaw).
The Awards also included the Outstanding Sound Design of a Play. This was won by Ryan Rumery, for Stereophonic (Playwrights Horizons). Hats off to the other nominees in this category too . . . Adam Cork for The Hunt (St. Ann’s Warehouse and Almeida Theatre), Tom Gibbons for Grey House, Palmer Hefferan for The Comeuppance (Signature Theatre), and Bray Poor & Will Pickens for Appropriate (Second Stage Theater).
Huge congratulations to Nick, and to all the other winners and nominees, from the whole Autograph team.
The theatre world’s attention now turns to next week’s Tony Awards – for which Nick’s work on Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club is also nominated for Best Sound Design of a Musical . . . See all the Tony Awards nominees HERE.
Fingers crossed…
