London-based Autograph Group have announced a major investment in Meyer Sound Panther equipment, prompted by their work with award-winning sound designer Mick Potter on the forthcoming world tour of Les Misérables – The Arena Spectacular. The new Cameron Mackintosh production premieres at Belfast’s SSE Arena in mid-September before progressing to venues across Europe, with further international dates to be announced.
Autograph and Potter both have close and lengthy associations with the many international productions and variants of Les Misérables while the latter’s preference for Meyer Sound products is well known. His specification of the California company’s latest line-array product, Panther, was the catalyst for an order worth more than £1m, all of which has now been delivered.
The bulk of the Meyer Sound Panther system order comprises 82 Panther enclosures (a mix of the 80 and 110-degree horizontal dispersion versions), but also includes Galaxy 816 processors, the new 2100-LFC subwoofers, MJF-208 monitors and various Ultra-Series products, in addition to rigging and accessories. As a result, Autograph now own one of the largest inventories of Panther in the world.
Autograph Group MD Scott Arnold commented, “Having Panther as part of our hire inventory going forward makes a lot of sense. Yes, it’s a lot of money, but we expect our Panther inventory to work hard for us both before and after the Les Misérables concert tour and to recoup that outlay within a realistic period.”
In addition to their globally-recognised work in theatre sound design and equipment supply, Autograph also deliver a range of specialist sound services including technical support and consultancy, digital infrastructure design and installation, training, product development and equipment sales. These are applied throughout the live performance sector and also in education, worship, leisure, retail, venues, events, immersive attractions and art installations.
